Welcome to the HMS Ardent Association

Born out of the of the 1982 Falklands Conflict, the HMS Ardent
association was set up immediately after the conflict in a hope
to foster and promote the name HMS Ardent and provide a focal
point to remember our fallen shipmates.

Membership is open to all ex-crew of HMS Ardent and families of the fallen.

HMS Ardent

HMS Ardent (Motto: Through fire and water) was a Royal Navy Type 21 frigate.

Built by Yarrow Shipbuilders Ltd, Glasgow, Scotland and launched by the HRH the Duchess of Gloucester, GCVO on the 9 May 1975.

Our Patron

Our Patron is HRH The Duchess of Gloucester GCVO pictured here meeting HMS Ardent Association veterans and families of the fallen at the 35th service of remembrance and reunion – 27 May 2017.

Our President

Our President is Admiral the Lord West of Spithead who was First Sea Lord and Commander in Chief of the Royal Navy from 2002 until 2006 and the Commanding officer of HMS Ardent in the 1982 Falklands War.

T.S. Ardent

The Bollington and Macclesfield Sea Cadets, T.S. Ardent, have been part of the HMS Ardent Association since they also formed in 1982.

Their President is also Admiral the Lord West of Spithead, they are pictured here with our Patron, HRH Duchess of Gloucester, GCVO, as she meets sea cadets from T.S. Ardent at the 40th annual reunion in HMS Drake, Plymouth.
